This guide explains how to connect your Shopify store to iAdvize to activate the Assistant Shopping AI on your e-commerce site in just a few clicks.
You will find the installation details, the synchronized product fields, as well as the limitations and important points to be aware of.
Installation
If you’re starting our free trial offer, click “Get started with Shopify.”
This button will automatically open the iAdvize app page on the Shopify App Store.
Otherwise,
- Sign in to your Shopify Admin.
- Go to the Shopify App Store (Shopify App Store) by clicking here.
- Click Install.
💡 Information
The iAdvize integration retrieves data only from the store's default market.
For example, if your store sells in France and Switzerland and the Swiss market is set as the default, only Swiss prices and stock in CHF will be considered.
Authorize iAdvize to access your store's product and variant data, then click Install:
Connect to your iAdvize account
The first installation step is to connect the iAdvize account where you want to install the app.
Click Connect to iAdvize to continue:
An email was previously sent to you to create a password and activate your iAdvize account.
Enter your credentials and sign in:
Note: If your account manages multiple projects, select the specific project (site) where you want to install the app. If you have a single project, it will be selected automatically and this step will be skipped.
Click the Link project button to continue:
Product catalog synchronization and transaction tag
After connecting to iAdvize, the synchronization of the product catalog starts automatically in the background, without further action.
At the same time, a knowledge source titled "Shopify knowledge source" will be created in iAdvize.
Additionally, the transaction tag will be automatically implemented on checkout pages via the Shopify Web Pixel extension.

We get every metafield associated to the variant and every metafield associated to the parent product of the variant. Every metafield will be a “product detail” on iAdvize’s side. |
Activate your Copilot for Shoppers
Step 1
This first step installs the main tag and the custom data on your Shopify store.
Go to the online store customization page using the provided link. A new window will open with the currently used Shopify theme.
In this new window, make sure of the following:
- The iAdvize tag option is enabled in the shop theme.
- Click the Save button at the top right to apply changes.
After saving the changes, close that tab to return to the installer.
Then click the Next step button to continue.
Note:
You can enable the iAdvize tag on multiple themes, for example if you frequently switch your shop theme. To do this, customize the desired theme in the online store, select the "App Embeds" menu on the left, enable the "iAdvize tag" option and click Save to update the theme.
Step 2
This second step displays your Copilot on the checkout and thank you pages.
For other plans, the chat can only be integrated on the Thank You page.
To continue, click the provided link to open the customization section. This will open a new tab with the currently used Shopify theme.
In the new tab you must:
- Click the “+” button in the iAdvize Tag section.
- Select the page where to activate the iAdvize tag: Checkout.
- Click the Save button at the top right to apply the changes.
- Click the “+” button in the iAdvize Tag section again.
- Select the page where to activate the iAdvize tag: Thank You Pages.
- Click the Save button at the top right to apply the changes.
Once the tag is enabled on both pages and changes are saved, you can close that tab to return to the installer.
Then click the Next step button to continue.
Note: You can activate the iAdvize Copilot on multiple themes, especially if you frequently change your shop theme.
To do so, customize the desired theme of your online store. Select the App Embeds menu on the left. Then enable the iAdvize tag option, choose the desired page (Checkout and/or Thank You), and click Save to update your theme.
Step 3
This final step lets you choose which web pages of the store will be used to create a Helpful Content knowledge source.
Select as many pages as needed, but only those containing useful content (FAQ, guides, tips, etc.). Avoid selecting product-specific information to ensure the Copilot functions correctly.
Select the desired pages, then click the Finish app installation button to finalize the installation.
Custom data management
The iAdvize app for Shopify automatically creates certain custom data by default (product_id, page_type).
If you wish to add additional custom data, you can edit your Shopify theme and use the method described on our developer platform.
You must then declare these custom data in the iAdvize admin.
App homepage
Once the installation is complete, the app homepage appears. It allows you to review the features configured during the installation.
One last step is required:

Checkout page: specifics
Shopify imposes certain constraints on conversational customization on the checkout.

To ensure conversation continuity between your site and checkout pages, third-party cookies must be enabled.
- The notification is standardized by Shopify. Its design and its label ("Message us") cannot be customized.
A chatbox is displayed (no Copilot Panel).
Updating your knowledge base
You don’t need to take any action in iAdvize: your knowledge base is automatically synchronized with your Shopify store. Simply make sure your information is up to date in Shopify.
The update runs daily, ensuring that your Copilot always has access to the most recent information from your catalog and useful content.
