This guide walks you through setting up order tracking with Magento 2. You create a read-only integration in your Magento admin, retrieve its credentials, then install the iAdvize app that lets your AI Shopping Assistant answer your customers’ questions about their orders.
Context and how it works
The Magento 2 PaaS - order tracking app lets your AI Shopping Assistant give visitors accurate information about their orders and shipments, based on your store’s data.
Typical journey:
- A customer asks about their order.
- The Assistant asks for their order number and the email used to place it.
- The app queries your Magento store’s API.
- The Assistant shows the order status and date and, once the order has shipped, the details of each package.
Information retrieved:
- the order status;
- the order date;
- for each shipped package, the carrier, the tracking number and the products it contains, including for orders split into several shipments.
Prerequisites
To install the app, iAdvize asks you for the following information:
-
Base URL of your Magento store: the root address of your store
Example:https://myshop.com - Consumer Key
- Consumer Secret
- Access Token
- Access Token Secret
- (Optional) Store Code, if your Magento instance manages several stores or store views
The four credentials (Consumer Key, Consumer Secret, Access Token, Access Token Secret) are generated together, in a single step, when you create an integration in your Magento admin. The following sections explain how to retrieve each piece of information.
Retrieve your store’s base URL
This is the root URL of your Magento store, starting with https://, for example https://myshop.com.
/api, /rest, /rest/V1…). The app adds it itself: a URL with a suffix prevents the connection to your store.
Create a Magento integration
The app connects to your store using the OAuth 1.0a protocol, which works on all Magento 2 versions, including 2.4.4 and later.
Create the integration
- In your Magento admin, go to System > Extensions > Integrations.
- Click Add New Integration.
- Give it a name, for example “iAdvize - Order tracking”.
Grant read access
- Open the API tab.
- Grant access to these resources only: Sales > Operations > Orders > Actions > View and Sales > Operations > Shipments.
- Click Save.
Activate the integration and copy the credentials
- In the list of integrations, click Activate on your integration’s row.
- Confirm the authorization.
- Magento displays the four credentials: Consumer Key, Consumer Secret, Access Token and Access Token Secret.
Retrieve the store view code (optional)
If your Magento instance manages several stores or store views, you can specify which store view the app connects to.
- In your Magento admin, go to Stores > Settings > All Stores.
- Note the value in the Code column for the store view you want.
If no code is entered, the app uses your instance’s default store view.
Install the app in iAdvize
You now have all the information you need:
- Base URL of your store
- Consumer Key, Consumer Secret, Access Token and Access Token Secret
- Store view code, if needed
- Go to Settings > Integration > Apps.
- Search for Magento 2 PaaS - order tracking.
- Click Discover.
- Click Install.
