Activate the iAdvize visual warning on different browsers

Following the activation of the visual signal in the iAdvize administration, it is important to make sure your browser actually allows iAdvize to display HTML5 web notifications. Here is how to configure the necessary exceptions on different browsers.

For browsers supporting desktop notifications in html5, the visual signal will be visible even if your browser is not the active window (while you are using another software). When receiving a new chat conversation, a preview of the message content is displayed :

This signal is compatible with the following browsers :

  • Chrome (since version 56) - The notification will be displayed about 20 seconds before disappearing
  • Firefox (since version 52) - The notification will be displayed about 5 seconds before disappearing. This time frame is a browser limit.
  • Safari (since version 12) - The notification will be displayed about 5 seconds before disappearing. This time frame is a browser limit.
  • Edge (since version 16)

With macOS it is possible to choose the type of notification :

The alerts type allows you to leave the notification displayed until you access the panel tab.

With Windows you have the possibility to choose the duration for visual notifications display :

Here are the detailed configurations to follow per browser:

1. For Google Chrome

After your login on iAdvize console, you only need to authorize iAdvize domain to display desktop notifications :

2. For Mozilla Firefox

After your login on iAdvize console, you only need to authorize iAdvize domain to display desktop notifications :

3. For Safari

After your login on iAdvize console, you only need to authorize iAdvize domain to display desktop notifications :

 

4. For Microsoft Edge

After your login on iAdvize console, you only need to authorize iAdvize domain to display desktop notifications :

 

5. For browsers who do not support HTML5 web notifications

If your browser doesn't support HTML5 web notifications, an HTML popup will be displayed when you receive visitors messages: 

If you're using this setting, please be sure your browser allows HTML popup notifications.

Note: this HTML popup may not be displayed on the top of your desk if you're using another program (like Microsoft Excel ou Word) at the same time as your browser. This is why we strongly advise to use a modern browser.
